I rent a 3 bed house. I'm self employed. Things are going fine at the moment, but my worry is that if I got sick or had an accident I wouldn't be able to pay the rent. Would I get any help ? Housing benefit/sickness benefit ?

Not unless you have a health insurance policy that will cover it. If not do some reasearch there are many affordable plans out there. Good luck

It depends on how sick you are and the type of sickness. You might get some help from the government but it won't be enough to cover your big house. They only give you the basics to survive. Your insurance will only cover some of the expenses of your sickness. Sorry, but this world stinks. Only the lottery can save you.

That's why they create things like Aflack. Otherwise, if you are just sick, no, you would be hard pressed to get help. An injury or accident, you might, depending on exactly what happens. That's why you have likely been told to keep at least two months rent in savings.
