I've resently started self harming. I've been under alot of stress from exams and i've been going through a rough time with friends and family.

I've never self harmed before but at the time it seemed like the right think to do, but now i cant stop. Im scared that it will go to far, and im embarrassed incase anyone finds out.

I have to wear long sleaved clothes that cover them up and im really worried incase anyone sees, like my family or friends and they will think im a psycho and i need help.

I feel stupid for doing it for these reasons when people are going through much worse things than me but i just cant stop.

    Can anyone help me?

Dont be ashamed of self harming. It happens to all of us at least once in our lives. The pressure of life can really push us to the edge and beyond...

I have the solution although sort of taboo like in its elgance.

Smoke marijuana. im serious. and surround yourself with positive energy during the process of smoking. you will feel liberated and free. Dont let those opposed to such relief inhibit you.

i feel exactly the same way
espcially the second to last line

i hate myself for feeling this way because there are so many other people who have to put up with worse than my situation everyday

but i just posted a question because i have decided that i am going to get some help without my parents knowledge because i don't want anyone else to know

and i have gotten several good suggetions including going to my family dr or the emergency room and telling them i'm having a psychological emergency and they may not be able to help me there
but they can at least help me find someone or somewhere that will help.
you can also go by a local chruch and see if you can find help there

if you don't have a car or a way to get there
you can always call a national suicide help hotline
    1-800-784-2433
    1-800-273-8255

    good luck
    and please, don't give up
i know you may feel alone because i sure as hell do
but your not the only one who is going through this

I have a friend who also was going through the same thing as you with family, friends etc problems. If you can talk to a close friend or close family member. It is always good to talk. or talk to a cousellor who can help (like at school).

It isnt easy stopping. It will take a long while but remember your not alone. There are other people just like you so you shouldnt be embarrassed.

Most people self harm because of things going on in their lives that isnt right or that they are under a lot of stress so they feel that that is the only way to release the pain and stress etc.

When you feel the need to do it, write your feelings down in a journal or diary etc that will help you to distract yourself from harming and yet allowing you to release and express your feelings. It isnt easy but you need time.

    Hope you get better.

Beckster PLEASE change the habit this is somthign you need to be talking to someone about. Either a counsellor, psychologist, even a close freind. You have taken the first step in asking for advice but please get control of your own life now and you will be thankful in the long run. You dont want this habit to get carried away.

Take care and you will be fine! Your worth it just seek the right people to talk to please,

Hey, I'm doing my exams too and i understand the stress that's involved. I self harm too and I have done for about a year, I'm also finding it difficult to stop and I haven't told anyone about it like friends or family because I'm scared they will think I'm a freak or a phsyco, I also have to cover up my cuts and scars so that no one finds out. I find that it can be easier to talk to someone who is going through the same thing as you than other people such as friends and family because clearly you don't want them to know and people going through the same thing will understand you and what you're going through so if you need to talk to someone, e-mail me or add me on msn if you have it, my addy is Email this person and I will try and help. x
